1. Setup
Thinly slice the onion, pickle and the cabbage.
2. Cook the onion
Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan over medium high heat. Cook the onion with 1 tsp. of sugar and a pinch of salt 4-5 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan.
3. Season the cabbage
Meanwhile, toss the cabbage with a drizzle of oil, 1-2 tbsp. of cider or wine vinegar, salt and pepper.
4. Cook the beef
Mix the beef with the steak spices to taste, salt and pepper. Form 1 very flat patty per person. Add the patties to the pan and cook 4-5 minutes per side over medium heat. Add the Swiss cheese slices on the patties, cover and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
5. Plate your dish
Heat the buns to taste. Garnish with the Thousand Island sauce, cabbage, beef patty, pickle slices and onion. Serve the burgers with the chips. Bon appétit!
