1. Setup
Very thinly slice the zucchini, onion and mushrooms.
2. Pickle the zucchini
Bring a small saucepan with 1-2 tbsp. of sugar, 1/4 cup of cider or wine vinegar , a pinch of salt and 1/2 cup of water to a soft boil. Place the zucchini in a bowl and pour the water over it. Leave to marinate.
3. Cook the patties
Mix the beef with the steak spices, salt and pepper. Form 1 patty per person. Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties 5-6 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan.
4. Cook the mushrooms
Add the mushrooms and onion to the pan. Cook 3-4 minutes. Add the flour and mix. Add 0.5 2P | 1 3P broth cube, Worcestershire sauce and 3/4 2P | 1.5 3P cups of water. Cook for 2 minutes. Return the patties to the pan to reheat until ready to serve.
5. Cook the polenta
Put the milk in a saucepan with 2 2P | 3 3P cups of water. Bring to a boil (keep an eye on the saucepan because when the milk boils it may overflow). Remove the saucepan from the heat. Pour the polenta in slowly and whisk until it thickens. Add the cheddar, salt and pepper to taste.
6. Plate your dish
Serve the patties with the sauce, polenta and marinated zucchini. Bon appétit!
