1. Adjust the steps of the recipe for your children To help your children get accustomed to new flavours and develop their tastebuds, you can involve them in several steps of this recipe's preparation. Tearing the bread with their hands, mixing the bread and the eggs, putting them in the baking dish and preparing the icing are all easy (and fun!) steps for children, even at a young age. The only thing you'll have to do is bake and supervise! Pastry recipes are often a child's favorite because they can participate in a lot of steps!
2. Setup Preheat oven to 375°F. Cut the bread into small cubes.
3. Cook the pudding In a big bowl, mix the bread pieces with the milk, eggs, spices (to taste) and half of the vanilla. Grease a baking dish and pour in the bread mixture. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes.
4. Make the glaze In another bowl, whisk the icing sugar with the leftover vanilla, the cream cheese and 2-3 tbsp of water. If needed, add more water until you get a glaze consistency.
5. Roast the nuts Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Roast the nuts for 3-4 minutes. Add the maple syrup, cook 30 seconds and remove from the pan.
6. Plate your dish Serve the bread pudding and garnish with the pecans and the icing. It is possible to let the kids add the glaze themselves to their plate. Bon appétit!
