In the latest years, Instagram has succeeded in becoming one of the most popular social media globally. As of 2018, more than a billion people are using the platform monthly. This represents approximately 47 000 full capacity filled Bell Centre (the type of crowd that would cause a hell of a traffic jam after a Taylor Swift show).

The raise of the platform came with a brand-new phenomenon: documenting every meal with a picture (did not see this one coming right?). Whether it is at the restaurant or at home, snapping a picture of your meal and sharing on social media has become a trend. Jessica Prudencio for her part, took the trend to another level in 2016, when she created her blog @toutedansmesfesses (all in my butt).

Profession: foodie

Does #foodporn sound familiar? In Montreal, Jessica Prudencio, is the expert of the hashtag. On her personal account or on @toutedansmesfesses , she never misses a chance to make us drool over her publications. At Cook it we love her content and we are very proud to count her amongst our ambassadors. We made a little interview with her to give you a better taste of who she is:

Where did you get the idea to start @toutedansmesfesses ?
I always loved eating, going to the restaurant and taking pictures of what I ate! Initially,
@toutedansmesfesses was only a way to keep track of the new restaurants I discovered, and since a couple years ago it was not trendy to post food pictures on Instagram, I decided to keep my personal and my foodie accounts separate. Little by little, people started appreciating me sharing my favorite spots. I then decided to share my love of food with those who were interested! I could not be happier of the gourmet community I built around me and I love advising people on the new imperatives to try out.

Do you consider Instagram as a job? If the answer is yes, do you think it will still be the case in 5 years.

I would say Instagram is entertaining and inspiring me more than anything else. The app allowed me to meet a lot of great people. I love creating content and sharing with my friends and family. I sometimes get some lucrative contracts through it, so it does become my job, but it is much more than that. I am lucky to make money out of something I love (even though it is way more difficult than it looks!). In 5 years from now, if Instagram is still alive, if I am still relevant and if I still enjoy doing what I do and opportunities present themselves, then of course I would still like creating content with brands I have a good relationship with.

What do you see for the future? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I have a really hard time picturing myself in the future… All I can say is that I see myself even happier and grown in 10 years!

Quiz: Food is my passion

If you get stuck on a deserted island, what food you could not do without?

Eggs.

What dish brings you back to your childhood?

Spaghetti and meatballs. So comforting and delicious! Oh my God, can I add garlic bread with that?
What’s your favorite home cooked meal?
I love brunch so I would say pancakes. I even have some for dinner occasionally…

What’s your favorite recipe to cook?

Pancakes aside, I love homemade pizza.

If you could only pick one restaurant to eat at for the rest of your days, which one would it be?
Definitely Foiegwa. They excel in everything they make, especially the pancakes (ok, I’m done talking about it). And their burger… YUM!

You just came back from a long trip in Europe…if you could bring something you ate there back to Quebec, what would it be and why?
We already have pastéis de nata here but the ones in Portugal were out of this world. Otherwise I would say Amsterdam cone fries. SO GOOD! Why don’t we have that here?

What is your favorite Cook it recipe?

I need to make a top 3 because it is impossible to pick only one:

  1. Philly Veggie Poutine
  2. Tuna Burger
  3. Portobello fajitas
